The Council on Healthy Mothers and Babies (COHMAB) began as a local maternal and child health collaborative in Columbus, Ohio in the early 1990's. The collaborative was formed when several organizations became very concerned about the rising infant mortality rates in Franklin County, Ohio. Since then, the COHMAB has been working hard to reduce infant mortality by educating service providers and the community about issues affecting infant mortality. COHMAB is a non-profit 501c3 organization. "Infant Mortality is a subject of profound social importance. The modern view has ceased to be fatalistic; infant mortality is now regarded as a preventable waste..."
